A successful and enjoyable convention experience means planning ahead of time!  Chapters and sisters will benefit by planning for convention together well in advance.  Here are important resources and information to help make your convention goals reality!

STEP 1: make your strategic plan

  1. Begin thinking about your purpose for attending this year’s convention.  Are you a Dean, Delegate, or Treasurer and must attend?  Are you a new member or a sister who would like to learn more about how our organization works and meet other sisters?  Would you like to attend workshops to learn and be engaged in the decision making processes of our organization?  Do you want to connect and have a great time with sisters, new and old?

  1. Once you determine your purpose for attending, think about your next steps: planning, to-do’s, timelines, and costs.  Connect with your chapter and/or local sisters to start talking about who will attend convention and what you can do together to make convention a reality:

  1. Members with convention experience, start talking with new sisters and first-time convention attendees about the importance of convention and what it is all about.  You are an important guide for these sisters!

  1. Think about important pre-convention to-do’s for Delegates, Deans, and Treasurer’s. Important information will be sent over the TNX National listserv and the Delegate’s, Dean’s and Treasurer’s listservs from now until convention. Please pay special attention to these e-mails.

  2. Plan a few effective fundraisers from now until August that will help as many members as possible attend convention.

  1. Discuss other important to-do’s at convention.  Would you like to sell items in the Paraphernalia Pit Stop as a fundraiser?  Who will attend the workshops and how will they bring back this information to your chapter/area?  How will you represent your chapter and region at this year’s convention?

Make sure to also consider important dates on your campus, and in your community and personal life that may coincide with convention dates from now until Convention.

STEP 4: start saving & paying for convention

Saving for convention is a very important step.  Visit the Registration and Saving For Convention page for more resources and information!

STEP 5: connect and plan with sisters

Connect and plan with your sisters through Facebook!  New to this year’s convention is the discussion board on our Facebook group.  Use the Facebook group to discuss travel plans, share fundraising and money saving ideas, and pump each other up for convention!  To join, go to www.facebook.com, search for “Theta Nu Xi’s 2009 National Convention”, and send your request to join.
