attendance & participation

The success of our National Convention depends heavily on the activism and participation of all members.  Convention attendees should arrive on-time, prepared, and ready to engage at all scheduled events.  All convention attendees should attend the General Session.  Delegates must attend the General Session: Delegate’s Meeting, Legislation, and Elections.  Dean’s and Treasurer’s must attend their respective trainings.  Although not required, all non-Delegate convention attendees are strongly encouraged to attend the General Session: Delegate’s Meeting, Legislation, and Elections, as this is where important decisions are made for the future of the Sorority.

attire

Sisters are encouraged to wear their letters and other Theta Nu Xi paraphernalia throughout convention.  Attire for all business meetings, the General Session, workshops, and training sessions is business casual.  Attire for the Butterfly Banquet and Awards Ceremony is semi-formal (dress or suit); traditional cultural attire is encouraged.  Attire for all other events is casual.  For more help with dress codes, visit:

use of technology

  1. Photography will be provided throughout convention by an official convention photographer.  A National Organization group photo will also be taken by a professional photographer prior to the Butterfly Banquet and Awards Ceremony.  These photos will be available for purchase post-convention over the internet.  Convention attendees are asked to limit individual use of cameras during scheduled convention programs to avoid interfering with the photographer.  Individual use of cameras is encouraged outside of formal meetings and workshops.

  1. Filming is not permitted during the General Session, business meetings, and voting due to the privacy of Sorority business.

  1. The use of a laptop is permitted for convention business during all convention business meetings and training.  The use of a laptop is strongly suggested for Delegates, Deans, and Treasurers.

  1. The use of cell phones and other devices during formal meetings and workshops is limited to official Sorority business needs.  All attendees are asked to keep devices on silent during all meetings and workshops.

networking

Convention is an excellent time to learn more about each other’s chapters, regions, and experience, as well as to engage in a network of dynamic leaders, students, and professionals.  Convention attendees are encouraged to bring chapter information (brochures, business cards, etc.) to exchange with other sisters, as well as personal business cards for networking purposes.
